TUESDAY 10TH APRIL: CHOCOLATE FACTORY AND BLOODY TOUR OF YORK

Tuesday 10th April

Our morning went the same so I’m going to skip all this part from now on until our lunch time finishes just not to tell the exact same thing every single day. Today we went to the Chocolate story. York is UK’S home of chocolate and it is famous because of the Nestle factory, PS: our ‘mom’ worked there,  which is where the famous chocolate bars Kit Kat are made. They told us many stories about Terry’s, Kit Kat and the creators. They also talked about the origins of chocolate and gave us to try the chocolate they used to drink, which was not really good as it tasted kind of bitter. We also saw the different stages chocolate passed through the factory and they showed us how to get the best taste of chocolate with a few steps. To finish our visit there we made our own lollipop with our favorite toppings. I really liked the visit even though after this I felt a little bad, I may have eaten way too much chocolate !!

We had no free time today due to a last minute change where we would have the bloody tour of York. Blood has spilled over the city of York during over its 2000 year history. The girl has told us many different ghost stories of York because York is also famous for its ghosts, the girl was dressed as Mad Alice, which is a figure of local folklore. The story that shocked me most was the one of the Treasurer’s home and it really left me with the enthusiast of entering there. The tour was fine because it was entertaining as well as informative but it was a little bit long for me maybe because I was cold.

After the bloody tour finished we went back home, which I didn’t mention but any of these days we stopped in the right place so when we arrived we had dinner. We had sweet and sour noodles which were kind of weird because they had corn as well as pineapple but I ate everything, actually I have been eating everything every day which is something that normally doesn’t occur at Madrid even if I like the food so I guess it’s the magic of trips or I’m just hungrier than usual!

  1. My favourite activity was the chocolate factory, we learned a lot of things about it. Did you know the first chocolate didn't have flavour at all? We watched a lot of videos, and thanks god, because the guide talked really fast. We also had the opportunity to create our own chocolate! They gave us some white chocolate, and they allowed us to decorate it however we wanted to. I really enjoyed the trip, specially the chocolate factory. I loved it! If you want to know more about the chocolate factory, you can go to their web page and discover a lot of things about it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we did. Remember to bring a bottle of water, because of the chocolate, you'll probably get thirsty.

  2. My favorite activity was the chocolate factory because we learned lots of things related to chocolate. We also ate a lot of chocolate. My favorite thing was when we made our own chocolate lollipops and decorated them with everything we wanted. It was really fun But the guy who gave us the guided tour spoke really quickly and it was a bit hard to understand. My favorite chocolate was the one we had in the beginning while he asked us what our favorite chocolate brand was. In the end of our guided tour he gave us a weird trick to enjoy our chocolate in which we placed the chocolate on our hand for some time and then we covered our noses and had the chocolate. After finishing the tour and making our own chocolate, we went down to the store and looked at some chocolate that we could buy.
